First time here?

Thank you for being our guest at Providence!

We understand it can be a challenge to come to a new and unfamiliar place. Here are a couple of things you might find helpful to know ahead of time.

Location

Our street address is 230 Shadow Place, Mantua, NJ 08051. Shadow Place is a one-way street running from Mantua Boulevard to Main Street. Our parking lot is across the street from the church, or you can feel free to park on both sides of Shadow Place.

Facilities

The sanctuary where we worship is located through the red doors at the front of the building. As you come in the red doors, there is a men’s room immediately to the left. As you continue to enter the building you will see a literature table to the left, as well as the ladies room. The new addition on the right side of the building contains a staircase to the Fellowship Hall, and an open coat closet.

Nursery

We believe that all people, including our children, are welcome to worship the Lord. If you have small children, please feel free to keep them with you during our worship services.

We also understand that you may wish to have your littlest children cared for during the service. We have a nursery for infants and toddlers located in the building next to the church. Use the sidewalk between the two buildings and look for the glass door. Our nursery staff will welcome you and walk you through our check-in and check-out procedures.

Service Times

Our morning worship service starts at 11:00 AM. A few minutes before 11 our piano player will begin playing as people find their seats. When the service begins we will greet everyone and give a few announcements, before asking people to quiet their hearts as we prepare to worship. The service is usually over between 12 and 12:15.

We also have Sunday School for all ages beginning at 9:30 AM, and a more informal evening service at 6:00 PM.

Our Worship

Since worship is a meeting of God and his people, our services are designed as a conversation. Worship begins when God calls us together with the Call to Worship. Then through the service we alternate between hearing from God and responding back to him in our songs, prayers, and offerings. The service culminates in the reading and preaching of God’s Word. Then we sing a final song in response and receive God’s blessing in the Benediction before we depart.

Our Music

At Providence we sing a mixture of new and old songs. Most weeks we sing from the Red Trinity Hymnals in the pews, and sometimes we’ll sing a song projected on the front wall and printed in the bulletin. Our songs are chosen to fit the themes of that week’s message.

During the service we will often have an offertory. An individual or small group will play a song or a piece of music while the rest of the congregation gives financially to support the work of the church.

Our Beliefs

Providence is a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and we hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms, along with the historic creeds of the church.
